My, Literally Hello World APEX, Website….#JoelKallmanDay

I am late to the party. But better later than never. I still remember when Tom Kyte mentioned how he, Mike Hichwa and a few more are working on this new “cool” technology called that time “HTMLDB”, later renamed to APEX(Application Express) . The application will appear as a website but it’s actually going to run from within the database. Being the Oracle database fanboy, I immediately jumped on to it. Mind it, I am not a developer. But within no time, I managed to create my own website (of course I used the same theme of AskTOM LOL), with a small guest book that would send me the guest comments. Little did I know, Apex will rock the tech world like anything. Here is how it looked. I know it’s super cheesy but remember, this is now almost two decades old .

After years, I was fortunate to attend a webinar from Joel Kallman, unfortunately, his last webinar before he passed away. The passion and the care that he had for both the Oracle User Community and of course for APEX, is something that cannot be expressed in words. And the best tribute to Joel is IMHO that more and more people are made aware of this fantastic technology. If you want to learn more about it, please check out https://apex.oracle.com

Thanks, Joel for showing how one can be so good in his/her craft and also so passionate, and helpful for the community too. Sadly you are gone too soon but will never be forgotten!
