Who Am I

I am Aman Sharma. I am working/learning oracle database from quite some time, version 8 was the starting number with which I was introduced with this awesome technology. Since then , I have been trying to understand more and more about it, a process which is still going as sound as like the very first day of its starting. This blog is my repository of experiences with oracle database and oracle world. I am not sure that how it will go at the moment as I don’t know much about this beast called Oracle database, but hope I shall be able to write some useful and sensible.

Needless to mention but its important too so here it goes, anything mentioned over here now or in future doesn’t have anything to do with Oracle or any other person/company.

    Hi Aman Sir,

I felt am almost in heaven when i saw your comment in my blog.

I am always been a favourite student to your posts in forums. All your posts made me mad especially on SCN and you know whenever i see a word SCN now, i am reading it as AMAN (my brain automatically takes your name :-) )

Am thinking, how can i be like you in oracle? please give me suggestions.

  11. #11 by Aman Sharma on February 13, 2010 - 1:22 pm

    Hi Pavan,

Thanks so much for the kind words of yours! I am nothing compared to all of you. Seriously , I am sure your blog must be way more popular than mine and people have mentioned there that you are awesome! I am nothing , just a very simple, very less knowledgeable guy :-) !

About being like me, I am nothing Pavan! I know very very less! All I can tell you is, and which was told to me as well by a VERY senior person from Oracle, be patient! It would take years to be a little knowledgeable even. So make sure you don’t assume to be a grand master or “expert” in few weeks or months! It won’t happen, it can’t happen! Just keep on doing what you are doing and try to improve that’s all! And you are already really an expert so I am sure, it won’t take much time for you!

Once again, many thanks for the kind words and stopping by here!

    Cheers
    Aman….

    Sunil,

Since I am teaching Oracle database courses from a long time, I am surprised to hear for the first time that some one did find Oracle book tough and the market book easy! Well, I am sure you did read the book from OU quite thoroughly before making such judgement so I won’t say much about it. I am not familiar with the book that you have mentioned. I didn’t read it and I won’t comment about a book without reading it. So you got to see for yourself about this. I would give a suggestion though that you should not read the market book and prepare using OU’s book only but that’s just a suggestion and you are free to not to use it.

About Don’s books, I would say that his books are for very advanced users and as per you, you are just starting so I think, you would find his work quite advanced and deep. So I would suggest that you finish your training, get your certification done and do work in oracle for some time before coming to his books.

    Hope that helps.

    Hello Sir,

Pls recommend some books for passing OCA,how is SQL:THE COMPLETE REFERENCE?pls also let me know some books on dba oracle 10g?best sellers.

  15. #15 by Aman Sharma on March 29, 2010 - 12:16 pm

    Sunil,

Please use the books that are given to you from OU. Those are the best in the preparation and passing the exams of OCP/A. I am not going to list the books which are “best sellers” here. You can check Amazon for the best seller books. For the OCA, there is series of books from Oracle Press which comes up, you may want to check that.

Thanks for stopping by here. I am sorry but I don’t come on MSN too often. So it would be better if you raise your either on Forums or on here. I would suggest forums as the best place since it would bring so many new ideas/corrections for your question.
